What is the basic difference between “Dirt” and “Soil”?

Basic “dirt” consists of sand, silt and clay, these materials make up the majority of dirt and leave very little space for water and oxygen. Usually when water is added it turns into a mucky mess. This type of environment promotes many problems in plant development, from root disease, poor nutrient up take, dry spots, salt problem, low production, and many other problems.
To turn “dirt” into “soil” a small percentage of organic matter needs to be added to the mix, ideally 3 to 5 percent. The organic matter we are referring to is broken down so fine that it cannot be seen with the naked eye. The ripple effect of the organic matter is quite amazing.

Isn’t applying compost or manures improving my soil?

Yes, anytime you add organic matter to your soil it improves the soil, it is essential to the health of the soil. However, compost or manures still have to be broken down to the point that the organic matter is available and usable to really improve your soil. This is process require a broad spectrum of biological and enzymes to break them down.

Doesn’t compost or manures have bacteria in them?

Yes, and given time they will breakdown on their own, this can take from months to years. The quicker they breakdown the faster you can improve your soil.

Are there other ways to improve the organic content of your soil?

That is where the BACTIFEED ST Soil System can help you. It is designed to improve the organic content of your soil by improving the biological activity of your soil. This process is repeated every time you water.

How does the BACTIFEED ST Soil System vary for other biological soil conditioners?

Unlike other Biological soil conditioners that are applied at a quart to a gallon per acre and can cost any where from $25 to $70 per acre plus the application cost, BACTIFEED ST Soil System has taken a different approach. Our goal is to put 100 to 200 gallons on per acre for as little as $15 per acre, running it through the irrigation water, either injecting into the pivot or metering it into the irrigation ditch.
The BACTIFEED ST Soil System is specifically designed to continually revitalize your soil, improve water penetration and enhance fertilizer availability to growing crops. The process starts by combining specifically formulated biological packages and a nutrient-balanced food supply contained in a Biological-Generating Tank. It will constantly inject a source of biological organisms and soil stimulants on to your fields. The result is a rapid, ongoing improvement in soil conditions and plant health.

What equipment will I need to apply the BACTIFEED ST Soil System?

Basically, you will need a liquid storage tank, somewhere between 300 and 1500 gallon capacity depending on the size of the field, a way to put water into the tank, and either an injector pump or a metering device to regulate the flow into the irrigation water. Some applications may require a float valve and a circulation pump in the tank. Over all, this is not meant to be rocket science or be difficult to apply, most farmers make it far more difficult than it really is.

What results can I expect to see from using the BACTIFEED ST Soil System?

As soil conditions vary from field to field we are not sure what benefits you will see, our goal is to make some changes in your soil that make it easier to work with. Some of the benefits most often seen are:

• Stimulate biological humus development in all soil types.
• Aerates soils.
• Increases water penetration.
• Increases water retention.
• Reduces Clods.
• Buffer salts.
• Aids in the decomposition of organic residue.
• Chelates nutrients for easier plant uptake.
• Encourages root growth and depth penetration.
• Helps to biologically buffer toxic chemicals.
