Dry Land Irrigation
Dry land farming presents special considerations to applications of BACTIFEED. In the course of a normal irrigation season with either flood or pivot irrigation, we would like to apply 150-200 total gallons of BACTIFEED Soil System per acre. With Dry Land farming, we do not have control over the amount of rainfall we will have, so we must take advantage of our ability to control concentration. BACTIFEED can be incubated and matured in a large mother tank, and sprayed on the ground with simple spray equipment. We recommend using at least a 20 gallon per acre setting on the equipment. While it may not be possible to get 4, 6, or 8 individual treatments complete between crops, cumulative use of BACTIFEED has proven to be quite successful.
For example, a farmer is harvesting his winter wheat and then planting corn. We recommend that farmer use BACTIFEED at a 3:1 ratio in order to get a treatment equivalency of 3 treatments with one pass over land between harvest and before or during planting. Upon harvesting the corn and planting the winter wheat, we recommend another 3:1 ratio (3 scoops of BACTIFEED per 10 acres instead of one scoop per ten acres), and that this practice be continued in between harvests and plantings. BACTIFEED will work to rapidly break down crop residue, leaf shatter, and dead root hair as well as unused fertilizers in the grounds to create a healthier soil, so that each rotation of the crops brings a healthier soil to the next. One customer who owns an implement business has even modified equipment so that Bactifeed can be injected or “knifed” directly into the soil, eliminating any possibility of loss of product to evaporation between spray nozzle and the ground. Bactifeed believes in putting a quality product in the hands of innovative farmers may provide for even greater benefits than ever thought possible with BACTIFEED’s original concept.
DIRECTIONS:
Incubation – take one scoop of BACTIFEED and pour it into a standard 5 gallon pale, fill the pale with water, and let stand for approximately 12 hours. This is the incubation phase of growing and replicating microbes. Maturation – Take that 5 gallon pale of microbes and pour it into a mother tank of substantial size, and add additional product and water to fill.
Example. 50 acre field. We would incubate as previously described. We would then pour that 5 gallon bucket into a 1,000 gallon tank, and add 4-15 scoops of BACTIFEED. Four scoops would give us a 1:1 ratio (5 scoops for 50 acres), but since we will not apply again until crop rotation, we are going to apply at a 3:1 ratio, meaning you would add another 14 scoops to make that ratio (3 scoops per 10 acres; for 50 acres, 3 scoops times 5 = 15 total scoops). We would then let the microbes mature for a minimum of 24 hours, agitate or aerate if possible (not required), and then apply with our sprayer at a minimum rate of 20 gallons per acre.
